Here's the 411 on Mother's Day from a REAL mom, not the writer of a Hallmark card. Ladies, now is the time to bookmark this page for your husbands. Better yet, you'd might as well just e-mail it to him or he'll never see it. While you're at it, go ahead and name your subject, "New Flat Screen TV" or "Free Taco Bell For a Year!"
1. First of all, next Sunday is Mother's Day. That is May 8, 2011. Don't forget. :) Mom's won't forget if you do.
2. You need to get a gift (at the very least a card) for your mom and the mother of your child. It doesn't matter if she is not your mother. She carried around your child and gave birth to your child. I could go into detail but I won't. Get her a gift!
3. Remember, Mother's Day is before Father's Day. We will remember how special our day was when we are thinking of yours.
4. Handmade cards are completely acceptable from children (and very much cherished.)
5. Breakfast in bed is also super sweet. Personally I would like to sleep in. Breakfast after 10 a.m. is fine. Check first.
6. Cereal is not acceptable as breakfast in bed, nor is a pop tart. Here are some never-fail suggestions: Pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, toast or biscuits and gravy.
7. Most importantly make sure that all the mom's in your life know how much they are loved and appreciated. After all being a mom is the hardest (and best) job in the world but unfortunatley the least appreciated at times.
Hilarious and every bit of it is true!!
ReplyDeleteEvery husband/ dad should read this!
Awesome. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat great advice! I definitely remember how I was treated and it certainly plays into how he gets treated. I used to try to lead by example but after years of treating him to a great dad's day with him not remembering to do something nice for me for Mother's Day I gave up. It apparently left more of an impression when I didn't do something nice, lol!
ReplyDeleteI would love some breakfast in bed!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so adorable, I'm giving you an award. Come claim it at: http://fosterandboo.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI love being a Mom!!! Thanks for stopping by. I love the picture of the little girl...soooo cute! Xxoo
ReplyDeleteGreat post!!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband NEEDS to read this. I LOVE my husband dearly but Mother's Day and Valentine's Day are the two targets of his "commercialized Hallmark holidays".
Most of my Mother's Days of years past include celebrating my mom or my mom-in-law (I'm wondering if/when it will be my turn to be celebrated). Hopefully this year is different (as I am pregnant with our second child).
Wishing you a wonderful Mother's Day!
Great post! Now following u. I just love being a Mom :)
ReplyDeleteWhen you are a stay at home dad, does this mean you get a super awesome father's day?Usually yes, but mother's day is still a bigger deal in our house.
ReplyDeletecheers
You are spot on... but I would leave out the "at times" at the end of your post. LOL
ReplyDeleteNow if I can only get my husband to read it.
Hmm...I just blogged about MY ideal Mother's Day also. I don't want or need any gifts though. I'd be in heaven with some peace & quiet and a clean bathroom.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
Well said (or written)!
