Meeting new people

Being a stay at home mom makes it difficult to make and keep friends. I've met a lot of great people the last few years. Unfortunately, many of us have gone separate ways. We left a lot of our friends behind when we moved from the Mid-MO area to KC. Even some of the friends I've made in Kc have moved away! It's been really discouraging to lose these friendships. It's great to keep up with old friends over the phone and through facebook but it's just not the same as hanging out face to face.

I still have a couple of great friends out here to hang out with but I've been really down lately about not having many friends. It's especially disappointing when I'm unable to keep up with my old friends. It seems like everyone is too busy to talk on the phone anymore. I'm sure I have been driving Jeremy crazy whining and complaining about it. I started a Ladies Bible Study a couple of weeks ago and was able to meet some of the women in my church. It's been nice so far. We talked about taking our problems to God. It seems like many of us call our moms or complain to our husbands when we are having a problem. That's fine to some extent but sometimes we neglect to take our problems to God! I finally took this issue to God. I really feel like he has heard my prayers and I'm already feeling much better about it.

Not only am happy to be meeting women through my church's Bible study but God has opened up other opportunities as well. Today I went to the mall with a girl that I went to college with. We never really talked or hung out at school. I saw through facebook that she and her husband had moved to KC recently. I contacted her a few weeks ago to see if she'd be interested in getting together. It was really nice to be able to just walk around and talk. We seem to have a lot in common. She is a mom too. Hopefully we can get together again sometime. I was also able to hang out with my best friend Ash today. We haven't hung out much since I had Asa. And to top off a great day, I met a really cool person when I got home tonight. I was coming into my apartment and ran into my neighbor who I met once a month ago. We got to talking. She is a christian and a mom of two little boys! We stood outside talking for almost ten minutes. She was really nice and it sounds like we have so much in common. She even invited me to a mom's group! We are gonna get together soon and take the boys out to play together. I'm really looking forward to that. I am just so thankful for what God is doing in my life right now! If only I had taken this to Him sooner.

Vampires + Werewolves = Chick flick

Jeremy and have realized how important it is for us to date, especially now that we have two little boys. I really regret that we didn't date more often before we had kids (and when we actually had money!) Our goal is to go on two dates a month. Last night we went out. Madeline came over and watched the boys for us. I know the boys enjoyed spending time with her and I'm pretty sure she enjoyed it too!

First Jeremy and I grabbed a bite to eat at taco bell. It was just nice to be able to focus on each other and not worry about bottles or diapers. After we ate, we went to see Eclipse. Jeremy really likes the Twilight Saga. He has read all the books. Sometimes I tease him about it because the books are kinda girly. When we bought our tickets, the usher joked, "how dare you drag him to see Eclipse." I laughed because HE"S the one that drug ME to see it! Anyways the movie was really good and we had a great time! We were back by 8:30pm. I feel bad asking family to babysit when we can't afford to pay. Hopefully someday we will be able to. It looks like our next date will be later this month for our 4 year anniversary. Where has the time gone?

Independence Day

It was another great Fourth of July. Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I just love hot summer days, BBQ, homemade ice cream, water gun fights and fireworks! Like almost every other fourth, we went up to my parents. The rest of mom's family joined us (except Grandma Probst, not her favorite holiday!) Matt and all the other guys(pyromaniacs!) are into the LOUD firecrackers. They seem to get louder every year! I'm more into the pretty stuff. I also like sparklers but not sparkler bombs. Noah really liked the fireworks too. He kept saying pow pow pow! The only thing that scared him was the smoke bombs. Everytime we lit one, he would run to the nearest person to be picked up. Matt said "anything with that much smoke that didn't explode would of scared me too." Oh and one more thing that Noah was afraid of... Bud. Bud is Mike and Colette's pug puppy. He was so tiny and playful but Noah didn't want anything to do with him!

I tried making some homemade ice cream but it didn't turn out. I guess it got salt in it. I think my container must have a crack or something because the same thing happened the last time we made some. Jeremy and I spent a lot of the night taking turns staying inside with Asa. We didn't really want him around the loud stuff. It was also a really rainy day. Just when it got dark enough for the night time fireworks, it started pouring. We made it home before 11 o'clock! That is probably the earliest we have ever ended our fourth of July celebration. We still have leftover fireworks so we may go back to mom and dad's to shoot the rest later this week.

Family Photo Shoot

This past spring Jeremy's cousin Maegan came up from Texas to visit. We had a wonderful week. She is such a sweet and fun person. Noah really took a liking to her as well. Maegan has a passion for photography. She will be going to school for it this fall. While she was here we went out to the park and had a family photo shoot. She took some fabulous pictures and I thought I'd share them.

I love my boys

I feel so blessed to be able to stay home with my boys. It is the best job ever but the hardest by far! That is something my mom has told me for as long as I can remember. Somedays I feel bored and trapped at home. The boys keep me busy though. I try to get out with them when ever possible. We have a great time together and Noah is always entertaining me. Today he got into Jeremy's deodorant. He put it on himself and all of his stuffed animals. Goofy kid!

~Noah~
Noah is just the funniest little guy ever! He is always making people laugh. When we go to Grandma and Papa's, he loves to go see the cows. He gets so excited and starts saying BOOOO! Cows are by far his favorite animal. He also loves to sing and dance while watching cartoons. Veggietales are his favorites (mine too!) At this time, he is always imitating mom and dad. He trys to walk around wearing our shoes. When I get ready in the mornings, he stands next to me and brushes his teeth and hair. He even pretends to put on make up and put in contact lenses! He is such a wonderful big brother too! He calls Asa "Bubby." Noah is always rubbing Asa's back, kissing his head and poking him in the eye. I can see that they will be best friends soon.

~Asa~
Asa is my snuggly little baby. He wants to be held all the time! He sure makes it hard to get anything done. He is 6 weeks old now. We haven't been to the doctor in a month so I'm not sure what he weighs. I bet he's gained quite a bit of weight though. He eats all the time! When he gets hungry, he snorts like a pig so I call him piglet. As of now he eats every two to three hours. One night he slept almost 5 hours. I can't wait for that to become more regular. I miss sleeping. He is getting more alert everday and stronger too. He can hold his head up for a minute or so. I am looking forward to his first smile. He seems kinda grumpy and frowns most of the time. He tolerates his big brother quite well though. It doesn't even seem to bother him when he gets poked in the eye! Soon he will be playing and sharing with Noah.

I'm a loser baby...

It's been five weeks now since I had Asa. It's hard having a baby at the begining of summer (or being pregnant in the summer- done that too!) While it seems like everyone else is putting their bikinis on and laying out, I'm covering up in baggy t-shirts and gym shorts.

Luckily for me, I had a good delivery and was able to start working out at 1 1/2 weeks post partum (not with the Dr's ok though!)I've lost 20lbs since coming home from the hospital...that's what makes me a loser. I'm happy to have lost 20 lbs so quickly but I'd still like to lose another 20 or 25lbs. Technically I'm still overweight for my height. I never really had to lose weight before I had kids so I had no idea how hard it would be! I wasn't even able to get back down to my pre-preg weight after having Noah. It's really frustrating seeing all the celebrity "moms" on t.v. They are all back to normal in no time and make it look easy. Ugh. Anyways, I'm working hard at it and hopefully this hard work will pay off. My goal is to be twenty pounds lighter by the end of the summer.

I'm Baaccccckkkkk!

Whoa! It's been over a year since I started this blog and since the last post! Sorry. Maybe this year I'll do better. :) So, I went through and updated a few things ~ Added a couple of pics and gave it a fresh look.

A lot has happened this last year! My baby boy Noah is growing up so fast. In just a few months he'll be two. Time flies! On May 20th, 2010 baby boy Asa joined our family. He weighed 9lbs 6oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. I recently started back up with summer school. Busy, busy, busy. Five years of college down, 5 to go... Ugh, I hope not!

Anyways, we are now members of Nashua Baptist Church. Love it. It is definitly the place for us. We joined in March. Shortly after joining, Jeremy was asked if he would be interested in the Youth Minister position. After lots of prayer and meeting with the pastor and personnel committee, the church voted YES. We are super excited and can't wait to see what God has for us and the students at Nashua.

Well, that's it for now. Hopefully I'll be back soon!
